Radio Ad

This is the radio trailer that I made  for the brief:
10. A short film in its entirety, lasting approximately five minutes, which may be live action or animated or a combination of both, together with two of the following three options:
·                -a poster for the film;
·                -a radio trailer for the film;
·                -a film magazine review page featuring the film.

Film Poster

This is my film poster, I wanted to keep it simple and dramatic so that is caught peoples eye and they became intrigued to want to know what it was about.

Q1

Question 1:In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
I have decided to do a directors commentary to answer this question. This means that I will show parts of my main production while I talk about it. I think that it is the most effective method as I will be able to show where i use the conventions and explain why we used it and why we used it in that specific area, also by using this format I will be able to pause it and talk in more detail about the part the scene that I needed to. It is effective as it would be hard to explain without watching the clips.

Unfortunately I have unable been unable to add a directors commentary voice-over to these clip. However, I had add a paragraph to the end of each clip explain what I would have said.

As we can see in this clip out main character is female. Using a female actor to play a vulnerable character is very stereotypical. By using a female character we already know that something dangerous or troubling will happen to her. Films have a tendency to use female to play the vulnerable character because males are stereotyped as being dominate and powerful.

Another way that we developed conventions for the thriller genre is by using a forest. This follows conventions as they feel secluded and isolated. Which is why they are so popular to use when there is going to be a crime. This suggest that the something bad will happen to the character. Which makes audience automatically feel fear for the character when she enters the forest.

We used the female role in this short film not only to help develop convention but to challenge them. In out production we use a female to play the dominate villain character. This breaks the use of normal conventions that would use a male to play the part of the villain. we used a female character in this role as we wanted to give the audience something unexpected.

Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
I have created a Prezi presentation to help evaluate Q2, this link will send you the presentation:

I decided to use a Prezi format as it help to explain in greater detail the reason why I chose my ancillary texts.I think that this format will help to show the advantages and the disadvantage to my ancillary texts help to promote my main production. It is also a creative way to display the information that i need to give. It is also a a very simple site to use.

Q3

Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?
I answered Question 3 as interview. this is when i have someone from the movie (in this case Amber Mobbs) answer a few questions.This allowed me to create a script that they could follow explaining the planning and different techniques I would have used to now that I know how my production has turned out, so that if I could redo it I would be able to make more improvements.
I have divided each question that I asked in to three different clips.

I think uses an interview format was the most effective as it allows the audience to connect with the person speaking and therefore relate, and understand what the interviewee is saying. It also helps the keep the information simple which means that audience can connect with the information that is in the interview.
